Jinming Xu– Biography

Jinming Xu is currently an assistant professor with the College of Control Science and Engineering at Zhejiang University (ZJU), China. Prior to joining ZJU, he was a research fellow of the EXQUITUS center working with Prof Lihua Xie and Prof Yeng Chai Soh in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, from 2016 to 2017; he also received postdoctoral training in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, Arizona State University, from 2017 to 2018, working with Prof Angelia Nedich and Prof Anna Scaglione, and School of Industrial Engineering, Purdue University, from 2018 to 2019, working with Prof Gesualdo Scutari, respectively. He received the BSc degree in mechanical engineering from Shandong University in 2009 and the PhD degree in electrical engineering from NTU in 2016. He has published several papers in top-tier control journals such as IEEE Transactions on Automatic control and Automatica, and flagship conferences on machine learning, such as ICML, AISTATS. His current research interests focus on

  • Distributed optimization and control,

  • Large-scale machine learning,

  • Security of algorithms and data privacy,

  • Network Science.
